WHO CAN APPLY:
1) Students eligible for these scholarships must be of Ukrainian Catholic origin studying within the Province of Quebec. The curriculum of study must be one that is recognized by the Ministry of Education. There are 6 different categories eligible for applications. You may apply to more than 1 category in a given year, if you qualify, as listed below.
First Category: You are eligible for a one-time scholarship if you graduated from a Quebec Ukrainian High School within 12 months of the current application date.
Second Category: You are eligible for a one-time scholarship if you graduated from a Quebec High School within 12 months of the current application date.
Third Category: You are eligible for a scholarship if you graduated from a Quebec CEGEP within 12 months of the current application date.
Fourth Category: You are eligible if you were enrolled Full Time in a Quebec University in the 12-month period leading up to the application date. You may apply each year for which you meet this criterion.
Fifth Category: You are eligible if you were enrolled Full Time in a Quebec University Post Graduate program in the 12-month period leading up to the application date. You may apply each year for which you meet this criterion.
Sixth Category: You are eligible for a scholarship if you completed a vocational program from a Quebec school board or a private enterprise offering a vocational program recognized by the Ministry of Education within 12 months of the current application date;
2) The Father Josaphat Jean Foundation Selection Committee will select the top applicants for a Mandatory 15- minute interview. Interviews are typically held in the month following the application deadline.
3) Scholarship winners are chosen based their grades, with a heavy emphasis placed on involvement in the Ukrainian community, and a host of other criteria that are reviewed by the Father Josaphat Jean Foundation Selection Committee
4) In order to receive the award, the scholarship winner MUST attend the Awards Banquet.
5) Students are eligible to receive a maximum of 6 scholarships total, in any combination of categories as outlined above, with the exception of high school. Students are only eligible for a high school scholarship for the year in which they have graduated.
6) Regardless of any candidate’s suitability, eligibility, and application, the selection or rejection of any applicant for a scholarship award is solely at the discretion of the Father Josaphat Jean Foundation and all such decisions are final.
